Overview:
- GolfPlayChallenge.com is essentially the online database/clubhouse for a continuous golf competition. This site is where teams register and scores are submitted while the actual play takes place with each two-man team competing against any other team, anywhere, anytime. It’s designed to be user-friendly, flexible, and a tool for friendly and fun competition.
- Teams can register and begin playing at any point during the season.
- Teams are responsible for scheduling their own matches. GolfPlayChallenge does not determine when teams should play. Teams can choose who they play, when they play, and where they play.
- GolfPlayChallenge.com has been designed to assist in the scheduling of matches but it is ultimately the teams’ responsibility to use the tools we’ve provided to contact one another and schedule matches.
- GolfPlayChallenge.com will not assess a charge or fee of any kind to teams.
Teams/Format:
- Each two-man team must consist of the same two players in every match. No substitutes.
- Each two-man team can consist of any combination of gender.
- A match consists of one two-man team competing against another two-man team. Both teams must be registered with GolfPlayChallenge.com in order to submit a score.
- Team “handicaps” will not be used. Instead a team Skill Rating will be used for information purposes only. Teams should use these Skill Ratings to identify which team they might be best suited to play.
- Teams are allowed to play/challenge any team they wish.
- The format for GolfPlayChallenge is two parts:
- Matches must be played in a “scramble” format where each two-man team uses the “best ball” out of the two team members on every stroke. In a scramble, each player tees off on each hole. The best of the tee shots is selected and both players from a team play their second shots from that spot (within one club length and no closer to the hole). The best of the second shots is determined, then both play their third shots from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed.
- Teams must also follow a “match play” format where teams compete against another to win individual holes (using the scramble format), with the team winning the most holes claiming the match. Whichever team takes the least amount of strokes on a certain hole (using the scramble format) wins that hole and receives 1 match point. Whichever team has the greatest amount of points at the end of 18 holes wins the match.
- Teams must keep track of each hole and should agree on the final score after each match including holes won, lost, and tied. One member of the winning team from each match must report the score online at GolfPlayChallenge.com.
- If a match results in a tie (9-9), teams must determine which team won the #1 handicap hole (as determined by the scorecard) and that team wins the match. If the #1 handicap hole resulted in a tie, teams must look at the #2 handicap hole and so forth until a winner is determined. Teams should then report that score to GolfPlayChallenge.com as a final score of 10-8, not 9-9.
- Teams must count every stroke. No mulligan’s.
- The same two teams can play each other a maximum of five times. After five score submittals of the same two-team challenge, neither team gets credit for the sixth.
- Matches can be played at any golf course.
- GolfPlayChallenge.com will update scores based on 18 holes of play per match. In other words, if teams are only able to complete 12 holes due to rain or other circumstances, each team receives a tie on the remaining 6 holes. If teams decide to only play 9 holes, GolfPlayChallenge.com will automatically give each team a tie score for the remaining 9 holes.
Rankings/Scoring:
- Overall rankings will be calculated with the following formula: Winning Percentage X Points Earned = Weighted Score. The higher the teams weighted score, the higher the teams ranking. Example:

- Note: If a team's Winning Percentage is at 0% (zero games won) their Total Points will be automatically multiplied by 100% (1.00) to give them their Weighted Score, which is what their ranking will be based on.
- Teams earn points after completing a match based on the following established points schedule:
- Each Match Won 100 pts.
- Each Match Played 40 pts. (earned by both teams that participated in the match)
- Each Hole Won 5 pts.
- Each Hole Tied 1 pt.
- Bonus Points:
- Undefeated 30 pts. (accessed after each match if still unbeaten)
- Every Five Matches Played – Points are accessed after each 5th match played. Teams get their points for every 5th match doubled. Example: Team X earned 154 points for match #5 that they submitted, they would actually get credited 308 points (154 X 2).
- Submitted scores, new rankings, and other statistics will be updated regularly. If teams notice a problem or discrepancy in a certain score or statistic they should contact GolfPlayChallenge.com using the “Contact” portion of the website. GolfPlayChallenge.com will review the discrepancy and notify the team(s) of the final result.
